Consider A Top Notch Rewarding Career As A Working Chef

By Leith James

As an experienced working Chef, 12 years in the industry, I was continually fascinated to find a great diversity of motivations and viewpoints among my associates. A large number of Chefs I worked with felt inspired to “dazzle” the paying public by whipping up their brand of impressive culinary delights. These would serve to broaden their popularity, their customer base and their employment options. This may not be you, but for anyone considering a career as a Chef it is extremely helpful to consider some typical approaches to the hospitality industry from the outset and receive some valuable tips too.

Many approach cuisine creation as simply the pursuit of “great taste!” For others it is an art form – culinary creativity! Others will concentrate on the eye-pleasing aspect, as if meals are created to be photographed for perpetuity – as if cooking is to be eternalized in photo form for journals, cookbooks or top-shelf cuisine magazines.

A minority would approach cooking the way the French do – an act of love. Other chefs would try to develop themselves academically first – achieving a first-class rudimentary knowledge of food science, diet and nutrition in the culinary arts.

Others would focus upon a specialty such as franchise restaurants, fast food chains, top 5-star restaurants, bakeries, corporate dining location, sporting and entertainment venues, inner-city cafes, cruise ships, hotels, bistro’s, pubs, many holiday destinations and event/catering companies.

Being a chef can offer high end incomes, travel, social life, mullti-locations and preferenced, specialised work. There are many niche areas too often leading to your own specialized self-employment or business.

In this information technology age, budding chefs and hospitality workers can take advantage of websites such as www.contracthospitalitystaff.com - an online casual employment functionality where hospitality staff can cash in on many employers, gaining access to casual shifts and regular work at relatively short notice.  This enables the job seeker to be well connected to employers to source the jobs you want.
